10th President of the United States John Tyler Free frank as US Senator addressed in his hand with second (possible secretary) signature & date on back SKU: m1445
Through our research We known the free frank is a good signature. THe Franking signature looks very close to several we have seen on Land Grants. It has been noted that Tylers secretary signed many land grants. In 1834 November 16th The Senate was out of session therefore John Tyler would have been home in Gloucester Virginia. We believe the letter was signed and dated Nov 16th and then sent from his home town post office November 22 including his free frank addressed in his hand. There is also a nice Gloucester CH Virginia 11/22 cancel and Black Free stamp under signature sent to the cashier of US Bank Washington.
Dubbed "His Accidency" by his detractors, John Tyler was the first Vice President to be elevated to the office of President by the death of his predecessor.
